NPC Statistics

Before sitting down to an event, the Game Control must choose every NPC option left undecided in the scenario text (assigning Wealth, choosing gear, etc.). Further, the Game Control may -- again, before sitting down to run a mission -- rearrange an NPC's Roman Numerals in any fashion, so long as they add up to the same total number and no Roman Numeral shifts by more than 3 in either direction.

Example: A minion's Roman Numerals are Init I, Atk IV, Def VI, Resilience V, Damage Save I, Competence II, and Wealth I. The Game Control might rearrange them as Init III, Atk II, Def IV, Resilience VIII, Damage Save I, Competence I, and Wealth I. Both of these Roman Numeral sets add up to 20 and each Roman Numeral in the second set is within 3 of the same Roman Numeral in the first set.

Also, the Game Control may add or remove any combination of NPC qualities totaling up to 4, also adjusting the Mission's Caliber in XP. The total XP gain or loss due to adjusted NPC qualities is multiplied as described on pages 440 and 452 of the Spycraft 2.0 Rulebook and the result is applied to each character's final XP reward for the scenario. This may not decrease a character's XP result for any scenario below 0.

Game Controls should take special care before modifying NPC statistics or adding NPC qualities, as these actions can easily throw off the scenario's balance. These options are provided so experienced GCs can modify scenarios to account for particularly focused, scattered, or unbalanced player character teams, and should only be used accordingly.

Finally, unless specified otherwise in an official rule, all NPCs in Wyrmstone are Tier III.

Online Play

Wyrmstone may be played using internet chat or any web service, so long as the GC and all players in each event round agree upon any play modifications and rules revisions demanded by the platform. Following each event round, or series of closely consecutive event rounds, the GC must send each player an email with the contents of each line of the players' Character Journal. The player copies the contents of the email onto his Character Journal and writes "Online Play" in the Authorization column. He then prints the email and keeps it with his Character Journal for future reference.

Enforcing the Rules

When a player is found to be breaking the rules, it should be everyone's first instinct that he's merely misinformed. The GC and all players should make an effort to help less knowledgeable players understand the rules and learn from their mistakes. However, if this interferes with Rule Number One, the education can wait until the game is over.

In the unfortunate event that a player is caught cheating, the GC should make every effort to discretely resolve the situation at the event, taking the player aside (preferably under the guise of something in-game, like something the character's spotted), and politely correct him.

When a player is known to persistently circumvent the rules, one or more of the GCs involved should contact a member of the campaign's staff for assistance (see the Coordinators section).

A GC is permitted to eject chronic troublemakers, but should only do so under the direst circumstances, in which the offending player will ruin the game for everyone if he stays. Any GC who takes such drastic measures should contact the campaign's staff at the first available opportunity to report the incident.

Scenarios

All Wyrmstone scenarios are available for download from the wyrmstone.org website. However, some missions may be retired from time to time for various reasons. These retired missions can still be downloaded, but they are no longer available for official play in the Wyrmstone campaign. No XP or Reputation can be gained by playing a retired Mission.

There are four classes of Scenarios: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Electrum. In summary: Bronze scenarios are those generated by the community, for the community, with no restrictions, and are freely available for download and upload. Silver and Gold scenarios are created through the Wyrmstone Council, and primarily affect canon storylines. Silver scenarios are free for use where Gold scenarios have a nominal cost per event which is provided in part to the Authors for their effort as royalties. Electrum scenarios are like Bronze scenarios, but are created by Regional coordinators for special events, such as Interactives.

Bronze Scenarios are freely available for download and upload. Since they are not official Wyrmstone Canon, anybody can explore any option they wish with a Bronze Scenario. The Campaign staff believes this avoids a majority of the politics that occur within the earlier generation Organized Play campaigns, where one person's vision of a story may clash with an editor's. Through the use of Bronze scenarios authors are free to explore anything they wish (within the Writers Guidelines), and it is only up to the community to decide if the Author or Scenario is well received or not. Bronze Scenarios can optionally be approved by Regional Coordinators, but they are not required to be approved. Your Mileage May Vary. Bronze Scenarios may not hand out any Certificates. Reputation and XP gained from a Bronze Scenario are applicable for Signature Characters.

Silver Scenarios are those which are approved by the Council, and are freely available. Silver scenarios also are approved as canon by Regional Coordinators. Silver Scenarios may provide Certificates (and thus access to Restricted Items).

Gold Scenarios are similar to Silver Scenarios, but typically deal with the major plotlines. Gold Scenarios have a nominal per-event cost, with the proceeds going back to the author(s) as royalties and to cover campaign management costs. The method for this pricing is still to be determined, but it is anticipated that this should be no greater than $2 or $3 per table.

Electrum Scenarios are a special variation of Bronze Scenarios. These are restricted to a real-world region for the purpose of promoting local events, such as through Interactives. Electrum Scenarios may only be produced by a Regional Coordinator for the Player Region they cover, and it may only be played by players when they are physically within that Region (such as at a Convention). Electrum Scenarios need to also focus a majority of their time in the same region.
